Utah Fly Fishing Adventure!

Yes sir, today was just one of those really good fly fishing days with good company.  I didn’t have any clients so I called up my mission president a couple days ago and we went out today.  We got out on the water early, around 7 a.m and fished till noon.  We both landed some nice fish and had a lot of fun catching up.  I sure enjoyed the trip and was glad to see him.  I just wish I would have had a client today to, so call me up and I’d love to take you out.  You can go to my fly fishing contact page to send me an e-mail or call me at 801.376.0626 to book a trip directly.

I got a call last week from a father who has a son in Logan Utah going to Utah State College on a scholarship for engineering.  He is here in Utah for the summer going to school and his dad wanted to pay for him to go on a Utah Fly Fishing Trip for his birthday.  We had a blast!

It was Nick’s first time fly fishing and I took him out to some private water and guided him in Logan, Utah at Paradise Ranch.  It’s a beautiful place, very peaceful and calm.   I could tell we both enjoyed it, I mean come on, who wouldn’t enjoy catching lots of BIG fish, seeing beautiful wildlife and having a warm day and a good friend.

Happy birthday Nick, I’m glad I got to celebrate it with you.  I hope when your dad comes out I get to share the experience with both of you next time.  Oh yeah, and good luck with fly fishing, I’m sure you’ll pick it up quick,  call or e-mail me with fly fishing questions.

Looking like just an overcast day, we (Me and Jim) got together around 1pm to go for a little fly fishing expedition.  I knew by meeting Jim, I could learn more about the fly fishing sport, and about how to conduct my fly fishing guiding business.

He also was willing to share a personal spot on the Ogden that was great fishing.  It only took 5 minutes from Jim’s house to get to our little secret fishing spot.  We were there for less than five minutes and it was no longer JUST overcast.  It was full on RAIN, so I went back to my car and grabbed what I could to keep us dry, a sweater for myself and a rain coat for Jim.  It seemed to do the trick, since we were able to fish until 5pm.

We each landed numerous fish and I got to learn some things about business.  Jim taught me that I just needed to be able to communicate my knowledge effectively, be smart with the money I receive, be on the front page of Google, and then I will do even better with my fly fishing guiding business: Utah Pro Fly Fishing. It was my pleasure getting to meet a great fly fisherman who has devoted so much time to fly fishing and put together such a great reference book to help Utah’s Fly Fishers.

I have always thought about writing books, so it was good to get to talk to Jim about his book, FLYFISHER’S GUIDE TO UTAH.  While I was with him I bought a copy of his book  and had him sign it for me.  I look forward to reading Jim’s book.  If you too would like an autographed copy by Jim and also  read it along with me , you can purchase it here.
