What is the Green Drake Hatch Near Park City Utah?

This is a great time to get out and fly fish in Utah. We’ve been seeing some really good fishing for the last two weeks. The green drake hatch is on! Don’t know what this means? It means getting into some pretty nice fish and fast. During the green drake hatch you can use the dry fly technique that lets you catch fish off the top of the river, just like you’ve seen in the movie: “A River Runs Through It!” If you have ever wanted to try dry fly fishing, and your near Park City Utah, nows the time. Dry fly fishing allows you to see some serious fish action. As you cast your line up the river and watch the fly float down… BAM, instantly you see a fish rise and take your fly! It’s the most exhilarating thing ever. You have to experience it to believe it. For all you experienced fly fishermen, you know exactly what I am talking about.
The sad thing is the green drake hatch is almost over. It’ll only last for another week or so, but no worries. There are more hatches in August, such as the PMD Hatch (Pale Morning Dun).

The Green Drakes have been Hatching around 11am-1pm and an evening hatch around 6-8pm. I’ve been pretty busy guiding which has prevented me from doing a lot of blogging, so get out there and fish…it’s been great! Flows are lower and the Hatches are on!
Park City Fly Fishing Guides

Talk about a fun Utah fly fishing trip! It was a pleasure to get to go out fishing with someone who has met a man who I sincerely look up to and who I believe was a true fisher – of men, Og Mandino. Alan and Cindy Goldsberry, who are also inventors of the Flat Pad, which is a android version of the ipad, are not only great entrepreneurs but also excellent fly fishers. We fished on the middle provo river on a half day fly fishing trip and had a great time catching fish and telling stories.
I know they had a ton of fun by looking at these pictures of them standing in the fly fishing river with their trout.
What you can’t tell from these photos is that these bright, fun, entrepreneurs helped me see the world through clearer lenses, thanks! I was grateful for this day on the water with my new friends, Alan and Cindy, who opened my eyes to a new level of awareness. Thanks!
