Getting to meet new friends and enjoying watching people skillfully progress throughout the day is rewarding and makes guiding fly fishing trips great.  Landing beautiful fish and seeing smiles is equally rewarding.

When John and Mary Lou Senatra came out to Utah to participate in their nephews wedding plans they decided to get there hands on a fly rod and have some fun with me.  I knew it was going to be a blast from the day I talked to New Yorker John On the phone, he had the accent…you know what I’m talking about, fast, upbeat, enjoyable.

When they got here, no doubt it was great company, thanks for coming out with us, it was a pleasure guiding your Northern Utah fly fishing trip.

It was another great day on the water, fishing has been good, PMD’s are hatching and the fishing has been great.  It is fun to have Rick out time and again, we have a great relationship and he knows I will always be a Professional Fly Fishing Guide Service in Utah available at his request and we keep doing our part to bring him and his great crew back by delivering quality experiences.

All of the fish caught above took a long time to bring in.  It was very rewarding for me to take out this fly fishing tour and see such dramatic improvements in being able to land big fish so quickly.  I guess all it took was a couple “big ones that got away” to put the “better figure this out fast” learning mode in.

Fly Fishing In Utah Review

While vacationing in Utah, fishing with Utah Pro Fly Fishing’s Justin Harding was by far our favorite experience. Justin provided all the rods, flies, boots and waders needed to get us going, and within the hour we were standing in a serene, isolated spot on the Provo River catching fish. Neither my husband nor I had any fly fishing experience and would have been overly excited by even one small catch, but Justin’s knowledge, patience, and amazing ability to teach and guide led to much more.

Between the two of us, we caught twelve fish in just a few hours. When the fish weren’t biting, Justin was switching spots and changing flies, a learning experience in itself. He overturned rocks and showed us the insects the fish were eating that day in that location and how the flies we were using were almost exact replicas.  Justin provided the methods behind the madness so that changing flies, adjusting technique, and moving locations made sense.

As the morning went, Justin made suggestions on how to cast, mend and set with greater skill, and steadily we caught larger fish. His enthusiasm for fishing and nature as a whole is infectious, his knowledge about the river, its fish and other wildlife seems to have immeasurable depth, and his ability to teach makes learning to fly fish a relaxing, peaceful, almost effortless experience. Our only regret is that we didn’t have more time. Don’t even consider booking just half a day, it’s not near enough. On our next visit to Utah, we’ll book two.

Expert Utah Fly Fishing Service -

Here at Utah Pro Fly Fishing, we love getting to see big smiles with equally big fish in the picture.  After today’s trip we landed both!  Above is Jennifer, one of six clients who came out fishing with us.  They were such a fun group to have out fishing,  all of them picked up fly fishing very quick and were very good at using the instructions we provided.  We had a great time fishing the Lower Provo while fish were mainly taking Green Machines and PMD Emergers.

The fish below was caught yesterday on a Splitback PMD emerger on the Middle Provo.  The PMD’s started comming off hot and heavy around 4 p.m. and thats when I got this off a Dry-Dropper!

Utah Fly Fishing Adventure!

Yes sir, today was just one of those really good fly fishing days with good company.  I didn’t have any clients so I called up my mission president a couple days ago and we went out today.  We got out on the water early, around 7 a.m and fished till noon.  We both landed some nice fish and had a lot of fun catching up.  I sure enjoyed the trip and was glad to see him.  I just wish I would have had a client today to, so call me up and I’d love to take you out.  You can go to my fly fishing contact page to send me an e-mail or call me at 801.376.0626 to book a trip directly.
