Zillah Conqures Fly Fishing In Utah
(Zillah’s first fly fishing catch)
I would have to say my favorite clients are the ones whos biggest expectation is to only ensure a relaxing fun time on the river. Zillah was one of those clients. No pressure of catching fish, just the pressure of going out, learning the ropes, having fun and relaxing on the river. Zillah made sure to mention before hand that if she caught a fish fly fishing in Utah that would definitely be a bonus.
In order to appreciate Zillah’s catch, you have to learn the mindset she came with to fish with me. Her and her colleagues were in town from the United Kingdom on a business trip. Since they were staying in Deer Valley, most of them choose to ski while in town. But while her colleagues were skiing Zillah choose to come out fishing with me and they all told her fishing would be a waste of time since there were no bugs during the winter (but that is why Zillah wanted to come, she hates bugs bitting her).
So about 1 hour into the fishing after Zillah was starting to figure out the whole fly fishing gig, I stepped out of the river to watch and bam, she set the hook and FISH ON! Zillah landed the 13 inch brown trout after a little fight. She was so excited to show her pictures to her colleagues to give them an idea of what they missed out on while they thought skiing was the only thing to do in Park City this time of year.
Fish On Zillah, we look forward to you fly fishing in Utah again!
St. Regis Fly Fishing – Deer Valley Utah
I’ve picked up a couple St. Regis fly fishing guest lately from the beautiful St. Regis in Deer Valley. Today it was Sean, Summer and Ethan. And they slayed them!
One of my favorite parts of the day was watching 9 year old Ethan get discouraged after his mother and father had both caught brown trout only 30 min after our arrival to the middle provo river. Ethan was sure that everyone had a good spot to fish except him and so he kept wanted to trade everyone. Me and our other guide Jerry kept telling him his turn would come. About 10 minutes later, bam! Ethan had a fish on but it got off as it swam towards him and we couldn’t tighten the line fast enough. About 10 minutes later he got another fish on and got this one in, as we started taking pictures his dad caught one too so we got the cool picture below!
If you are going to St. Regis fly fishing, make sure let us know and we’ll give you a great experience just like we did for this family.
Nice Job guys, good fishing! Can’t wait to see you guys back in Deer Valley so we can do some more fly fishing!
Park City Fly Fishing Trips
Today, we got to take out the most fun, sweet group from Deer Valley fly fishing on the middle Provo River. They had fun, landed fish and got there hands dirty. We figured we could handle the group of five with two guides but a couple nights before, I was talking to Caroline(2nd in starting from the left) on the phone and she passed the phone to Amy (in the middle) who I told she would receive the fly to put in her new fly fishing hat. But she would have to earn it by catching her fish…they were all a huge ball of energy, and so I knew it would be better to have three guides to handle it all, so we did. They really ended up being way low maintenance but It’s a good thing we brought three guides cause they fell in love with Clarence (especially Amy!), and she was happy she earned her fly to put in her hat!
Thanks everyone for coming, we hope to have you come back real soon!
