Got out fishing with Jason, the concierge at Waldorf Astoria, Park City, UT and his friend Kevin and had a blast. It was their first time ever fly fishing and both Jason and Kevin picked it up real fast. Kevin (in the red hat) caught 2-3 fish and landed his first fish within the first 10 min…nice work! There wasn’t to many people on the water and both Jason and Kevin kept commenting on how nice it was. Jason (in the blue hat) caught 1 small fish, but he worked hard for it and was very proud! No matter the size, a fish is a fish…nice work guys. Fly Fishing in Utah is such a relaxing way to spend the day, I’m glad you were both able to join us.

Park City Trout Fishing Guide

Last week Myself and Clarence got to take out a wonderful family of four on a fishing trip who were looking for things to do in Park City, Utah, their names: Jay, Jackie, Noel and Zen. What a Trip! The day started out around 10 am and we got to our secret fishing spot around 10:30. As we approached the river we saw two beautiful geese fly by in the early morning light showing off their flying skills as they honked again and again. We also scared 2 ducks out of the fishing hole. Once there, Clarance gave great instruction on fly fishing technique and then Zen (picture above) started fly fishing first. I need to mention, he is only eight years old (the youngest fly fisherman I’ve ever had!) Also I might mention that his sister Noel is the youngest fly fisherwoman I’ve ever had at nine years old!
After fishing for about an hour without any success, the hatch began, things started heating up and Jay was the first to catch and land a fish. I’m telling you, you could really see some excitement shining from this grateful man who had just conquered his first trout fly fishing!
Next, Noel caught her huge 18 inch rainbow trout. It’s beautiful, both her and the fish, just take a look below, nice work Noel!
Noel ended up catching a huge brown trout too. It was amazing, again, all by herself…what a spectacular sight. It was a pleasure meeting this great family. They said they went snowmobiling, on a horse carriage ride, skiing/snowboarding and they said that this was by far their favorite thing to do! Thanks again guys and we’ll look forward to seeing you next year in Park City and being your fly fishing guides:)

Published March 16, 2011 | I recently read the book, “Fishing: observations of a Reel Man.” It was by John Bytheway and besides the catchy name, it really had a lot of good content.

Although the whole book is good. Over the next little bit I’m going to be giving some of the content away. It’s really good and it will probably help you understand why I like to guide/fish.

Utah Pro Fly Fishing Takes Out Hooked On Utah
Published February 23, 2011 | You can listen to Jon Carter from The Arrow 103.5 interview Gary Winterton on Friday morning to hear how the fly fishing trip went.
Today I got to fish with Gary Winterton from “Hooked On Utah” & Jon Carter from The Arrow 103.5. Both are very impressive fisherman! They are high energy and fun to be around. The trip was…well a trip!
We met up on the Middle Provo at 9am with Gary, Kevin (camera man), Gilbert (other UPFF guide), and Myself. Fished till about 11 when Jon showed up. Boy did he bring the luck. That’s when the river started to produce. Gary started getting Dry Fly action and Jon landed 5 fish using the nymph technique. Jon caught a beautifully colored 18 inch rainbow (I’ll post the pictures asap) and Gary landed the only fish on a dry fly.
it was a great time and in good company. The show will air next Sunday March 6th at 11:30 pm on Channel 5 and then on The Sportsman Channel soon thereafter. I hope you enjoy the show as much as I did the trip.

Things to do in Park City
Published February 5, 2011 | Jeff and Victor came out to fish with me today. They are from Tennessee and are into the mysterious world of IT. While they come to Park City to ski every year, this year they decided to search for park city fly fishing guides and found me through Google. The trip turned out very good. Victor caught 4 fish and Jeff caught 3 fish. Some had some good size to them (about 17 inches). Nice work guys. The trip is always a success with big fish and of course…big smiles! I had a blast and could tell they did too. Thanks for coming out Jeff and Victor…it was great meeting you!
